My names Sam and I'm currently pursuing my teaching license at the U of M. I wanted to start reading your blog because it's important to stay in touch with the age group I will actually teach one day! I'm still sort of nervous about the whole thing, but once I start student teaching, I'm sure it will all fall into place.
I liked your top five books. Although I haven't read Angels and Demons or The Da Vinci Code, I am familiar with the subject matter and have read some other books about the same stuff. I am always intrigued by mystery, religion, and secret societies. One book I would recommend to you, based on your list, is The Flander's Panel, by Arturo Perez-Reverte. I've read three or four books by him and they have all been awesome. This one is about a strange painting that tells the story of a murder. As the murder is investigated, it becomes apparent that the murderer is still active. Also, the game has a chess component, so if you like chess, you'd really like this book.
Thanks for letting me check out your blog. I look forward to commenting.
